About This Attraction
The Arch of Triumph was built in 1922 to commemorate the victories of the Romanian army during World War I and the Great Union of 1918. The monument welcomed King Ferdinand and Queen Maria of Romania with great celebration as they passed beneath it just one day after their coronation. Originally made of wood and plaster as a temporary structure, it was later replaced with the stone arch that stands today. On its southern façade, two bronze medallions depict King Ferdinand and Queen Maria, honoring their legacy in Romanian history.
