About This Attraction
Big Ben is the most famous clock tower in the world and one of the most visited landmarks in London. The tower has several names, including “Elizabeth Tower,” “Big Ben,” and “The Clock Tower of the Palace of Westminster.” Although “Big Ben” is often used to refer to the entire structure, the name originally referred only to the Great Bell inside the tower. The construction of Elizabeth Tower was completed in 1859, and the Great Clock began operating on May 31 of the same year.
